About this Website
This website has been created by Speech and Language Therapists for parents, families and care givers of children aged between 0-5 years. All of the activities, advice and information available on the website has been developed by Speech and Language Therapists or sourced from trusted, credible academic research.
“Early language acquisition impacts on all aspects of a child’s non-physical development and plays a key role in school achievement“ Law et al (2017).
Supporting Talking understands that children are unique and not all will learn to talk as quickly as their friends. We know that all parents want the best for their children and it can be difficult if your child experiences a difficulty learning to talk. All of the information and activities on this website are equally suitable for children developing their skills well as well as those who are experiencing difficulties with their talking, listening or understanding. If your child has a speech, language and communication difficulty early identification is really important to enable them to get the help they need to develop their skills.
“77% of parents who are worried about their child’s speech and language development struggle to find the information they need” Bercow: Ten Years On (2018).
We understand the challenges and frustration some parents face finding trusted speech and language advice. Supporting Talking provides a hub of information and practical ways of helping your child at home. We boast a range of learning opportunities, activities and resources for our members as well as guidance and information to help you decide if more specialist support is needed for your child.
